aboutAli Ece (technicolor dream generator guitar, back vocals) Asaf Zeki Yüksel (ney, clarinet, theremin, various weird instruments made by himself, backing vocals) Yilma Karatuna (drums, darbuka, bendir, tambourine, hanging drum, spoons, rotary saw blade) Feryin Kaya (groovy bass) Ali Asaf Sarica (vocals) The band was formed by Ali Ece and Kerem Tansever in early 2003. The name Dinar Bandosu is originated from one of the most influential underground Turkish poets named Ece Ayhan. "Dinar Bandosu" is an innovation of Ece Ayhan, an imaginary band in which Turkish intellectuals and artists play various western and Turkish musical instruments. This band always stayed as an imaginary project because these intellectuals and artists did not play any musical instruments. Ece Ayhan did not play any music in his entire life but his obsession with atonal music led him to create this band in his mind. Dinar Bandosu started to play music by covering psychedelic anthems then began to write their own songs in early 2003. They had an offer from 'Have You Got it Yet?' (Syd Barrett global cover project) and they recorded a song called Interstellar Vegetable Man. The song got good feedback so they started recording their own songs. With the addition of other current members, Dinar Bandosu's sound has progressed, becoming more experimental, dancable, neo-Ottoman way of psychedelica influenced by The Stooges, 70's Baris Manco, Kurtalan Ekspres, 13th Floor Elevators, Kemal Sunal movie soundtracks, Syd Barrett's "Punk" Floyd, old Mogollar, early Funkadelic, Mavi Isiklar, Spacemen 3, Turkish "Art" Music and Primal Scream. Their music is free-minded, revolutionary and funny.
